Derek is a self-taught artist. Born in Ilford in 1937, he left school at fifteen and moved into the rapidly developing world of commercial design and advertising. His career encompassed graphic design, photography and illustration, working with top London agencies over a 40 year period. In 1993, Derek relocated to Suffolk to concentrate on his painting and printmaking. Since then, he has enjoyed considerable success as a professional artist, as well as critical acclaim. His work has been shown at Royal Academy Summer Exhibitions, National Print Exhibitions, The Mall Galleries and The Royal Watercolour Society, as well as numerous solo exhibitions. His atmospheric, aquatint etchings of Aldeburgh and surrounding areas through the seasons have gained a loyal following both locally and with visitors from around the world. As such, these limited edition prints are now highly collectable.
