Following a long and successful career in advertising, Michael left the world of commerce to concentrate on developing his career as a professional artist. He studied portrait painting at Heatherly’s Art School and has since enjoyed considerable success, primarily with private clients.

Michael draws inspiration from a variety sources to produce figurative and abstract works that combine impressionist influences with more contemporary themes. In his own words:

“I love the texture of the paint, the richness of colour and the subtle ways that pigments interact with each other. Painting from life creates its own rewards in the look and feel of the work, but exploring the juxtaposition of shapes and colours in abstraction is intensely satisfying.  In painting one is always looking, and looking and looking again, until you see the essence and character of your subject.”
